If you are looking for a new family adventure outside Manila, then Funtastic Park at Subic is a place for you and your family. In this article, you will read our unforgettable experience including tips and guide to make your visit enjoyable.

The Trip

September 17, 2015  was an excting day for my family because it was our first time to visit Subic.
Together with AIIAS Academy students, teachers, and parents, we left the school campus at 5:36 am.

It took us 6 hours to reach Subic because of the traffic in EDSA including a stopover somewhere in NLEX. Honestly, it was a long trip just to go there. I even heard some students complaining in our bus that Silang, Cavite is very far from Subic. However, their complaints stopped when the bus reach Funtastic Park. I saw in their eyes including my 2 year old son, the feeling of excitement when they saw the place.

Everyone couldn’t wait for their turn to leave the bus. Everyone was excited. But before we enter the building, a staff gave us some instructions of the do’s and don’ts of the park. He told us the following information:
·    Drinks and foods are not allowed inside the building.
·    You can bring your camera.
·    Observe cleanliness
·    Follow the rules of the park.

After the reminders, the students formed a line with the parents and the teachers. The tickets were checked, and the fun began.

So what’s in Funtastic Park?

It is an educational fun park which is located at Ilanin Forest Area, Subic Bay Freeport Zone. The park is not big as I expected, but it has big and proud trees, peaceful and fresh gardens, a welcoming ambience surrounding the place.

The building inside the park is not big too, but once you get inside it, you will be surprised because of the different indoor activities that you and your family will enjoy.

They have 4 major rooms in the building. They have Mirror Maze Room, Enchanted Forest (3D) Room, Dark Room, and Ames Room. Each room has different activities for individuals and groups.

The first room that my family and I entered was the Mirror Maze Room. We were also given black gloves that we must wear before getting inside the room. At first, I was wondering why we need to wear it, but when we got inside the room, the gloves became useful because it helped us find the exit.

The room is a maze full of mirrors. My wife and I including our son were very careful walking inside the Mirror Maze Room because we do not want to hit against the mirrors. It also took us 15 minutes to find our way out.

The second room that we visited is the Enchanted Forest 3D. This is the room that I really like because it is full of colors. A lady who is in charge of the room gave us 3D glasses so we can see 3D colored objects in the room.

The third room that we were not able to enter is the Dark Room. This room is completely dark, so once you get inside it, you need to find your way out. Also, your friends and other people can watch you while you are moving inside the room because there is a CCTV camera installed inside a TV outside the room.

The last is the Ames Room. This is an illusion room where you can be small or tall if you take a picture inside it.

Aside from the rooms that I just mentioned, they have also 3D paintings on the walls.  It is called Trick Art wall. Everybody loves the paintings because you can take a picture with 3D effect by yourself, with your friends, or your family.

There is also a section in the building where you can take a picture that will take you back in the time of Egypt.

Another is a small room that resembles the Malacanang press room. You can be a President of the Philippines at the moment by standing at the podium while someone is taking a picture of you.

They have also the Optical Illusion Wall:full of illusion images, Subic History Corner: a very informative section about the history of Subic, Wow Pinoy Corner: pictures of famous Filipinos that we can be proud of; Kid’s Learning Nook: a place for kids to read books and play Lego, Science Facts and Trivia wall: collection of pictures and charts about animals, plants, and the environment.

What if you want to have a souvenir from Funtastic Park? They have a section in the building near Ames room where they sell stuff toys of different sizes and some plastic toys for kids. A worth keep souvenir for kids.

If you get hungry while doing the different fun-filled activities, you can take a break and go to the Fun Cafeteria. You can buy snacks and drinks that will fill-up your hungry stomach and quench your thirst.

After 2 hours of fun activities, my wife and I decided to go outside the building to explore the place and this is what we found: they have 4 life sized Avenger Heroes, a trampoline that my 2 year old son enjoyed, a maze garden, and a grass slide.

We spent more than three hours at Funtastic Park and it was an unforgettable moment for my family including AIIAS Academy. This is one of the best places we’ve visited for family bonding and group activities. My only suggestion to the management of the park is to add more indoor and outdoor activities.

My Personal Tips and Suggestions

If you are planning to visit this place, then let me share the things that I learned and observed during the visit.

·    Do not forget to bring your camera. Your fun will not be complete unless you have it. If possible, bring a digital camera because it captures vivid pictures compare to Smartphone camera.

·    While taking pictures of your friend, or your family at the Trick Art wall, make it sure you turn off the flash of your camera. It will produce a 3D effect.

·    Going there in a group will be more fun.

·    If you are from CALABARZON provinces and will have daytrip, the best time to leave your place is early in the morning to avoid heavy traffic along Manila especially EDSA.

·    Always bring extra shirt for kids because they will sweat a lot especially when they do outdoor activities at the park.
·    Also bring lots of water with you because SUBIC’s weather is always warm.

Now, there you have it. I have written down all the information that you need to know including helpful tips for you to enjoy your visit at the Funtastic Park Subic.
